Julie Goodspeed-Chadwick is committed to creating a safe, welcoming space for all students by designing for and facilitating inclusion, accessibility, and diversity in the classroom. Through her focus on evidence-based teaching strategies like Universal Design for Learning and active learning, she fosters a community where high participation and engagement are the norms.
By focusing on the accessibility of course presentations and materials, Heaven Hollender has been able to shift her class dynamic significantly. Student engagement, participation, and learning have all increased. Her Mosaic fellowship has been instrumental in helping her learn more about accessibility features of tools she frequently uses.
Using Universal Design for Learning, Gina Londino-Smolar provides multiple, accessible formats of course materials to give students different ways to engage. She also proactively develops materials for future students' accommodation needs. This means all students can engage in the same experiments and achieve the same learning outcomes as their peers.
Melinda Stanley ensures her courses are accessible and student-centered. She meticulously captions her course videos, advocates for Quality-Matters certification, and provides multiple ways for students to interact with course materials. Her approach even includes creating online field trips to enhance learning experiences for all students.
